A heart-stopping video reveals an elephant’s daring act to ensure his family’s safety while crossing a bustling road in India.

The elephant is seen chasing a frightened cyclist and holding up traffic to make way for his family.
In the intense 40-second footage, the determined elephant charges at the cyclist, causing dust to rise off its massive body. The terrified cyclist glances back while pedaling desperately to escape the pursuing giant.

Once the cyclist is out of the way, the elephant confronts the line of vehicles that have stopped behind him. A car attempts to reverse but finds itself trapped behind a bus.
The elephant approaches the forest’s edge and peers into the dense foliage. Shortly after, three more elephants, including a young calf, emerge from the jungle to safely cross the road.
The Indian elephant, a subspecies of the Asian Elephant, is listed as endangered on the IUCN Red List.
